|
|
Got my box of Gelli Baff this morning from SwapitShop and it was packaged in one of their blue bags which offers no protection to the item, so of course the box was very squashed. As this was going to be a Christmas present I was really disappointed so I just phoned SwapitShop.
The girl said I had to send it back at my own expense and they will 'investigate' and try and arrange for a replacement or refund. I told her I would probably have to pay around £1.50 - £2 to post it back and, after some persuasion, she said that they should be able to refund what I pay for postage afterwards too.
She seemed very reluctant to see the problem as SwapitShop's fault, and argued that their packages are no longer their responsibility once they leave the post room. I argued back that it was however their responsibility to package their items appropriately, and that the blue bag they packaged it in was not the best way to protect the item.
I'm concerned that if I do send it back, at my own expense and using my own packaging, they will either not acknowledge it's arrival or they will claim that it must have been damaged on its return journey to them. Either that or I won't get a refund for the postage I paid. I paid 699 Swapits for the Gelli Baff which I know isn't much, but when I'm trying to make money on SwapitShop I tend to make £10 per every 1k - so I would very much like a refund or at least a replacement.
Do you think I should send it back and risk losing my money and my time, or should I just leave it?

I think you should sent it back and write a note with it which says about the blue bag being not enough packaging and that it was supposed to be a christmas present. Then if they do say you can't have swapits back or postage refunded then keep ringing and e-mailing constantly until they have to give in, even if it means you have to get that person something different for christmas.
Also, try to send it back to them with some won swaps, and just have it in it's own separate envelope saying "SwapitShop Returns" on it so you don't have to pay loads for postage.
