I work as a volunteer in a Cancer Research UK shop and this morning I found a rather battered Sony Ericsson W800i phone in amongst the bag of our donated phones.
Every now and then, all the phones we get given are sold to a recycling company (who I think only pay £3 or £4 per phone), so I took the W800i home to test because I thought we could get more than £4 for it!
It's in quite a bad way cosmetically as you can see in the photos. It seems to have a black fascia on the front and a white fascia on the back, and is missing its battery cover. I've tested various simcards and it seems to be locked to Orange. The phone switches on but the directional buttons and the cancel and back buttons only work if pressed very hard and sometimes don't press at all.
If anybody knows how much we would be able to get for this phone handset in this condition, or knows of any way to fix its problems, I would be very grateful
I've just noticed something - there are two similar phones (W810i and W800i) and the one I've got is the W800i but it's got a W810i cover on the front. The button arrangement at the top is therefore different to what it should be, and so I reckon the buttons aren't pressing because it's not lined up properly.
I've just found a cheap case for it on eBay for £3.22 delivered, it's gold lol! Gonna put the case on it when it arrives then see if the top buttons work properly after that (probably should).
My only problem now is the camera doesn't seem to want to load, both when I go to the menu and click on the icon and when I press the quickstart button on the side. I'm thinking maybe something inside has disconnected..? Anyone else come across this problem before?
