how do these work exactly?

in a couple of ways, you carry it in your pocket if your out somewhere, if you were attacked or come up against confrontation, you tug on the cord at the side of it and it emits a very loud siren, that gets louder and louder by the second. This would scare the would be attacker as it would attract a great deal of attension, and the sound can hurt your ears after a while so they wouldnt want to hang around, you then reset it yourself when you need to.
The other way is it comes with a couple of extension cords so you can attach to a bag or belonging, and again if moved or pulled away (tampered with) it would set it off.
also you can attach these to doorways, someone walks in that shouldnt and again it sets it off.
I have kept one of these myself and have given a few of them to family members.
