Community service is something that the courts dish out to youth offenders and people who do minor crimes. I think he just means like volunteer work, to build up his CV and stuff.

I suppose it depends on what/who you're confident working with Nadeem.

There are organisations in some towns called 'Good Neighbour' or something along those lines where volunteers go and visit elderly or disabled people who have just come out of hospital and gone back to live in their own homes. You're basically just someone for them to talk to as they might be lonely.

Charity shops will be more than happy to recruit you, and you might find some bargains along the way

There are literally hundreds of volunteering opportunities out there, and websites such as V-Inspired should be able to give you some information. Alternatively there might be a volunteer job office somewhere in your town, look up in the Yellow Pages maybe? Either that, or the job centre might be able to point you in the direction of the right people.

Also why not try and help out at your local clubs, like cubs or scouts? That what my brother did for his community service for D of E.

For my community service my school does CCF which is like army and navy, so I am in a cadet force

Yeah I have done quite a lot of volunteering before so I was in the same situation as Nadeem at the beginning (although I did mine for nothing in particular).

I've done:

Couple of evenings at a Brownie pack.
About five mornings/evenings at a homeless shelter serving food.
Roughly 10 hours at a day centre for the elderly.
Helped out at a sports club for people with learning disabilities once a week for about half a year.
Been working at a Cancer Research UK shop as a volunteer for coming up to two years now.
Often help my tennis coach out with kids tennis coaching without being paid.

It's so rewarding, and it gives you something to talk about at job interviews and things.

I didn't do anything lol. Community service isn't always a punishment given to people who break the law. It is often also done out of the kindness of your heart. I have to do 30 hours of community service by Christmas for my WBQ (Welsh Bacc). For those not living in Wales and don't know what it is, basically it's an A-level course.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Their is a charity shop just around the corner from my so i'll ask them about it tommorrow. I'll also check out that website you mentioned Fizzy.
