Global Warming? My bum.It is SO not real.
Just another thing to government use to make us all worried.
The earths climate just changes naturally, wether we are here or not..
I cant believe humans actually think that they are good enough to burn through an entire ozone layer. Our egos are too big, the earth does what it likes. I personally believe its getting colder. Or maybe warmer. Either way
Its not us.

Yes it is.
Natural phenomena mean that the earth should have been cooling since the '50s, but instead temperatures are rising.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the best scientists in the field, said that global warming "is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic (man-made) greenhouse gas concentrations".
So yeah, stick that in your pipe and smoke it

Like Joey said, the temperature DOES fluctuate, but we are making it go the wrong way.
But, there are "ecohackers" that are trying to change the way earth works, not the people, I mean the actual planet, and cool it down.

Nahh thats all a bunch of stuff that scientists use to brainwash you.

You believe that because they tell you that? Brainwashed.
No, I believe the earth changes at its own rate, if the temperature goes up, its the earths doing, and if it goes down, its the earths doing.
If you look back at some of the evidence that the earths climate has changed before, you will see that it has slipped into ice ages and heat waves WAYY before we inhabited it.
So neer.

I know!
And also they blame US for 'Global Warming'
But what about things like the Industrial Revolution?

As I said before, It seriously does not exsist, Its just something to government wants us to worry about because then we "worry buy", which is basically when you buy rubbish like energy saving lightbulbs and "green" fuel because you are worried it will either run out or effect you in someway that is bad.
So as I say, its all LIES, I dont need that kind of junk in "my system"

And how do they benefit from making us worried? Governments make billions from oil, so why would they tell us to stop using it?
You can prove that greenhouse gases heat up the earth.
You cannot prove that scientists are "brainwashing" us.

Jack, scientists would say those thing's if for nothing else but for millions of government funding into their research... Theres not evidence of Global warming... For every scientific study that say there is, theres 10 other studies that say there is no such thing...
I watch a TV programme on CH4 awhile back, titled ''global warming the biggest myth'' It opened my eys t what shock tactics science group go to to secure funding for their organisation..

We're still emerging from an Ice Age
Global warming statistics are often fiddled to make the situation seem worse than it is. What you should be worried about is not GW but the lack of Fossil Fuels in the future

Sorta agree wit you and sorta dont - we probably are having a small effet on the planet but the government over exaggerate everything.

I don't believe global warming really exists either. Yeah the earth might be warming or cooling but it's natural in my opinion and would have happened regardless of what the human race is doing. The climate has gone up and down loads of times before.
I still think we should cut down our fuel consumption though and do things like recycling.

yea that reminds me of water world but no doubt about it i am sure that there is global warming!

Theres more scientific evidence avaiable to support life after death, NDEs for instance, than there is of globalwarming. Yet theres far more people believe in global warming, than the paranormal..
It just goes to show how people believe what they hear in the media, than what is presented has scientific fact.

Just goes to show how powerfull the media is an what effect it has on what people think/believe..
Just to add, theres a programme tonight ( I think on BBC1 ) regarding last years floods titled 'britian under water' it should shed some light on what a big myth all this global warming realy is.

Okay, whether or not you believe in global warming you have to agree that humankind is damaging the planet.
We are emitting more greenhouse gases than there should be, unbalancing the atmosphere and destroying the ozone layer. Surely you can't say that the earth "naturally" sheds its ozone layer?
|
Fizzy
|
Anything can happen, I mean the earth came into existence pretty randomly too didn't it.
|
oj-the-man
|
Yeah but several hundred millions of years pretty much the same, then humans come along and more change happens in a few hundred years than in the planet's history?
You're basing your argument on a massive coincidence rather than science?
|
Fizzy

Anything can happen
I don't have particularly strong beliefs about this subject, I've never really looked into it, but my gut instinct is that it's just the fate of the earth.
|
oj-the-man
|
But surely using the same "anything can happen" ideology I could say "the Earth's ozone layer should be getting thicker and temperatures should be falling."
At least you admit it's your instinct, not fact.
|
Fizzy
|
Of course what I'm saying isn't fact, and I haven't looked up any theories that back up what I'm suggesting either.
In my opinion, even if it is fact that the human race is responsible and can make a difference by changing, I don't think the world's population would actually be able to do it. I can't see a global change happening. I would happily make the changes in my lifestyle that the government wants me to make if they think it's going to save the world, but I don't think there's anything we can do to help.

No matter what we throw away or what energy we use, it won't have any detrimental effect on what weather we experience...... Adverse weather conditions isn't nothing new,the records over time support that fact. At various times of the year and in various parts of the country/world, there has always been sever weather change... it's nothing new, and has nothing to do with what we are dumping in landfill sites.
|
Fizzy

I can't really see industry changing unfortunately.
Let the world do what it wants to do, that's what I say. As you mentioned, the individual can't really make a huge difference, so if global warming really is happening then there's nothing us lot can really do about it is there.

So basically the concept of causation is wrong?
I'd quite happily explain the science of how energy usage affects our climate and weather, but no doubt it's just the media lying to me again

I would say any evidence supplied by energy companies to support global warming and the science behind how it's waste effects our climate, is linked to their own financial gains, and is the reason they justify the high fuel and energy prices... Profit first, facts second has fas as the energy is concerned.
They have and still do, pump millions of pounds into which ever science group is willing to support climate change to energy waste,.... The lengths these companies will go to hey jack

of course global warming exists!
That is why we are gtting more weather change. There is proof to back up that global warming is happening as they can moniter the hole in the ozone layer. And as jack said, the government would not benefit from making us worried. Believe it or not the government are actually here to help our country!
even if it doesn't exist, we should still cut down on the bad stuff as even if it is not worsening global warming, it is still polluting the earth.. which is bad.

Global warming is a natural things that's happened over millions of years. What will happen is the gulf stream will die then cool down the northern hemisphere and droping snow. The snow will reflect the light from the sun warming the earth again and get the gulf stream running again.
Also how can we be overdue an ice age caused by global warming when we are speeding it up?

Don't bump topics older than 15 days.
Anyway, this debate isn't going anywhere: the people who believe in global warming will say, "science proves it" and people who don't believe will say "science is wrong."
So locked.
