Got A Brace!Hello,
I got a fixed brace yesterday (top and bottem) and it got to be on for 18 months!
It really hurts today, I can't bite anything or brush teeth as hurts to much.
Just wondered, from people who have had a brace, when does pain normally stop and when it is tightend how long does pain last again?
Thanks

I don't know, they normally let you see them, but they were running late, so I just picked any colour!

Pain will last for a few days
But afterwards you get really nice teeth
I had mine on for a year and now I wear retainers for 2 more months

yeah it hurts for a while but ya just gotta take the pain - it's your teeth moving as the brace shifts them - though try not to eat apples or hard things when they've just been tightened :/
i thought i was going to have mines in for at least 2 years )thats what the dentist sed) but im getting them out at the end of july now! thats only 9 months

I have a fixed brace and it kills when you have it changed but then it's fine.
I have pink and purple ones. They turn different colours sometimes though.

ah, I had my braces (top and bottom also) for about 2 and a half years :/
I actually didn't want them taken off either ): I really miss them lol.
(unfortunately I had to have an operation too)
anyway, like everyone has said, just eat softer foods for the first few days to a week, depending on how long the pain lasts, and you'll soon get used to them. (: and, with brushing your teeth, I think your best bet would be to just take your time with it; do it a bit slower and more gently (:
also, I don't know if anyone will agree with me, but when they were taking mine off, it was sooo relaxing! 0_0

I went to the dentist the other day, She said that my bottom teeth aren't sliding behind my front teeth when im chewing.. So she says I have to go to the orthodontist and he/she might give me braces

Yeah, the first one's the worst. But after a while you get used to them and forget they're even there! When they get tightened, your teeth are usually quite tender for a few days. You also get a few mouth ulsars, so I'd suggest buying some Bonjela or something. After a while, your gums go kind of hard, so it doesn't rub anymore. Like when you start playing guitar or something, and after a while you get little callusts on your fingers. Mine are black. And I am not a goth.
