Pixie.

Is this unfair?

Basically, I've become increasingly more angry at my best mate recently, and I'll try and explain why.

For starters, out of the 5 pieces of English coursework we've been given in year 10, she's done a grand total of ZERO, whilst I've struggled, and given them all in.
And NOW she's been getting help from this other Englis teacher who she's friends with, and the teacher has literally TOLD her what to write.
Oh, and the latest piece of c/w we've been given, her mum has helped her with.

Next, after our first GCSE Science exam in January, we both took the foundation paper, and both had high C's, 69/69.
My Science teacher told me that if I continued to do well, and got a high mark in my coursework, I would be  taking the higher paper in June.
NOW my best friend hasn't even finnished the coursework (surprise surprise) and is taking the higher paper, and another of my friends who got a 25 in her coursework is taking the higher paper too.
I'm NOT down for the higher paper, and I got a 29 in my coursework ):

The list goes on to be honest.
It's like, she can put things off for so long, (in regards to the coursework, she pretended that the TEACHERS had LOST it, so NOW she's doing it instead, after I spent 3 weeks of my lunch times doing it.) then she gets everything served on a plate.
I'm sick to death of trying so hard in school, to then find out she does jack poop, and comes out better than me in our year 11 exams.
It's getting me stressed, angry, and upset, and I just can't see the point of bothering anymore. Do you agree that this is unfair?

Has anyone else been in a similar position?
And is there anything I can do to stop feeling like this?

Thanks.
Bradley

yea ive been in similar position

perhaps the teachers want to push you so your getting like maximum marks?

or confront the teachers (id do that )
Pixie.

yeah, i've asked a friend and she thinks that with regards to the Science, I should confront head of Science.

if I wasn't such a decent best mate, I'd tell the teachers that she's always making excuses for the coursework :\

I have a friend like this, he didnt really work much at GCSE and came out with B's/C's and a D. Then at AS in January exams he pulled out 3 A's to everyones surprise and he went round like he was Einstein. He then decided to do no work and has continued up until now to do very little on the basis he got those A's, and the teachers don't care, whereas I am working my ass off trying to keep to deadlines and I get no extra credit. Now he's on three C's or worse and happily I'm on 3 A's so work does count for something. Also I got all my Uni offers, he got 0 which was kind of a reality check for him.

So in regard to your situation - fight for yourself, keep working and forget about your friend because the attitude she has will come back to bite her in the ass later on in life. Also if you want to enter the Highers paper and the Science dept. don't let you, go to your Head, I'm sure they can't prevent you entering.
Pixie.

Thats for the help kclives!
I really hope she gets a reality check soon, I even tried HELPING her with the work she was behind on, because she couldn't be bothered to do it :\
I want her to see her mistakes, but at the same time I know she's got loads of potential to do well, and hate seeing her fall behind.

I guess she deserves it though, I don't think anyone LOVES doing coursework and homework, but at the end of the day it HAS to be done :\

I'm a very lazy person with getting work like coursework or essays done. I tend to work better under pressure so I usually end up leaving things with just under a week to spare until the hand in date.

For example I'm going to have to stay up all night tonight to get a 2,500 word law essay done in time for Thursday...

I don't make excuses for my laziness though, and I always make sure I get things done on time to at least a reasonable standard. I wouldn't rely on the help of somebody else to get something done either. I'm sure your friend will soon realise that she can't expect good things in life from doing nothing, so just keep getting good marks for yourself and be proud of your results whatever they are.

I had a similar situation with GCSE ICT in that we were allowed to take a compulsory half course GCSE, but some of the better people were also given the option of taking the full course. People were offered the full course after the first module exam was taken, mainly people who got A or A*, but despite the fact that I got an A which was very close to an A* I still wasn't offered a place. I think this was just down to my teacher not being very attentive.

Loads of people are like that.
And loads of teachers do their coursework for them.

I know it's not good to dob your best mate in or anything but if it's effecting her results when she's doing no work for herself then you need to report it. Other people aren't allowed to do your coursework.
Its damn right unfair.

i have had that problem with my friend. He is never in (seriously like twice a week MAX) and then has people in his house or is playing out after school! it gets on my nerves
