Er...people can be weird regardless of their sexuality.

I'm all for gay marriage, I think there's absolutely nothing wrong with it at all and it's just the same as a straight couple wanting to commit to each other. However, because the bible states in Christianity that man shalt not lie with man and woman shalt not lie with woman, I don't think any gay marriage should take place in a church. I'm not religious myself, but I just think it wouldn't be right to expect the Christian church to accept it.

In this modern age I don't think that homosexuality should be a controversial issue. To me it's as normal as hetrosexuality.
Kitty

I am for gay marriage too. But homosexuals are not as 'normal' as hetrosexuals. I do not say this becuase I dislike gays, but becuase humans are ment to reproduce. 1 out of 10 people are in fact gay. There is nothing wrong with being gay, and should be treated as every right a human.

Yeah I understand where you are coming from with the reproduction thing, but if you think about it some straight couples are biologically unable to reproduce too, due to infertility. Additionally some straight couples decide they don't want to have children. So the fact that homosexual couples can't reproduce is exempt in the gay marriage argument in my eyes.

Hayley what is your view on this topic?
Hayley

I think if two people love each other they should get married, its doesn't matter about the gender.
x
Fizzy

Exactly it shouldn't matter what gender you are, because it's just a close friendship and whatever is done behind closed doors shouldn't matter to the outside world coz it's private! I bet there are loads of couples of all sexual orientations that are cellibate anyway and just choose to share their life with somebody.
Hayley

As you said its just a close relationship, theres really nothing wrong with that, people can love exactly who they want.

cuddlyewok

Well I think that whatever you want to call it, marriage or unionship, there needs to be SOMETHING in place to protect the rights of a couple to BE TOGETHER. When two gay people fall in love, they - like straight couples - should be given the ability to live together without trouble.

ANYONE who disagrees with some kind of gay unionship, is TOTALLY MISSING THE POINT. If you want to be with someone for the rest of your life, you should have that right NO MATTER WHAT.

And as for the arguement regarding humans are meant to reproduce - well, whilst correct to a degree, you get a lot of people who reproduce, but do not want the offspring. Plenty of gay couples have proved that they can adopt a child, and raise it in a stable family enviroment.

So, that said, I am all for gay marriages. Live and let live.
-E.A-

I don't mind at all, however...........

gay couples shouldn't flaunt it in front of other people. EXAMPLE: I'm walking down the street, and sitting on a bench is too gay men getting off It's disgusting......

I don't want to see it, its alright if they do it out the way privately and not force it on other people.

(True story btw...........)

But the same could be said for straight couples. Personally, I do not want to see anyone tickling each others tonsils in public, as, whilst is shows passion, it also shows a lack of restraint.

So really, it is not confined to gay couples.

Also, over the years, I have learnt that most men do not mind if two women "go at it" together, as it seems to be a general fantasy.
Does this then not show how narrow minded and double standarded most men are, if they tolerate lesbian couples, but not homosexual?
Hayley

i can see what matt means but it is the same for staight couple anyway, so its not just gays as cuddlyewok said.
xx
Joey

I think gay marriage is fine, people who dont should learn to accept people for who they are and let people be conftable with who they like to be with. People are different, what they do together is between them and private, same with straight people. If 2 people love each other they should be able to be together whatever.

I find it uncomfortable watching people of any sexuality kissing/whatever in public, it's just not as common to see homosexual couples. You're probably more not used to it than disgusted by it.

Also when you see straight people getting off in public, would you say that the straight couple are forcing hetrosexuality on other people?
Mario

its up to the person really
Hayley

Anybody else want to share their opinions?

xx
jez2000111

I agree with Gay marriage so what if a man loves another man, it doesn't matter, though some people would not take this opinion properly due to me being an atheist
i don't care about this anyone can do what they feel like as long as its not hurting anyones feelings.
Paulolad

I think it's perfectly fine for gays to get married
Fizzy

This topic has been bumped two months after the last post! I'm going to keep it open though because I think this topic can create good discussion as it's a controversial issue. If other mods disagree and want to close it though I don't mind.
Reaper

I personally think it looks far, far better with Civil Partnership than with normal marrage, just think, a lion wouldn't wanna snog a goldfish, would they? Why is it the same with Men and women? I think, personally.

Male+Male= Good.
Female+Female= Good.
Male+Female= Not good.
Me+Anyone= BAD!
Fizzy

Well I'm in a relationship with a guy and I don't think it's weird.
Reaper

It isn't wierd, per sé, and I'm not gay, but I just think it looks a bit more normal, but that's just me, liking even and symmetrical things lol.

I personally don't think anything looks right, as i'm too young to get into all the relationship thing, and I'm 13, but I'm not ready, so all marrage is a bit too drastic for any relationship, but if you ere to have one, i think Civil Patnerships are better looking and more brave.
Fizzy

I've been with my boyfriend for four years next April, but I'm in no rush to get married. In fact, I don't know if marriage is what I want altogether! I can't imagine being with anybody else or sharing my life with anybody else than my boyfriend, but I just think that getting hitched is over rated.
Kay

You know what i never understand = And im hoping someone will know why, because its something ive always wanted to know.
The whole 'Civil Partnership' name? Why can't it be called Marriage?
It's the same rights as a regular marriage, Yet it has a different name...
Lets face it...
"Kay, Will you civil partnership me?" doesnt quite have the same effect/ring to it that "Kay, Will you marry me?" does.
Fizzy

I'm not sure, could it be to do with religion? I mean the bible is against gay relationships so as marriage is supposed to be a religious ceremony perhaps that has something to do with it?
Reaper

Yeah, basically, Same-sex marrage doesn't happen n the UK, but Civil Partnership is the legal bit. The couple can have it in a church, but not with the religious parts of it, you just bind the loegalities, which is kinda like a marriage.
Mario

gisagree.. mainly coz of ma religion but also coz its weird
Kitty

Why do you find it weird? Support your answer
Sorry, I just had an English test and thats all i've seen in a long time

woa all i needed to do was read 2 words and it shure as hell freaked me out ya no but no damn way gays are gays k and being gay is aginst god ya know out of order but its a fact
oh and ^funny lol i hate english tests they jar me up^
Reaper

If you can say it's against god, then why do buddhists get civil patnership, and why do you whittle it down to just christians getting Gay Marrige?
whizzkidtom

If it makes them happy then yes!

I heard this quote on the radio the other day!
"If God wanted men to be gay he would have made Adam and Steve not Adam and Eve"
Fizzy

About that Adam and Steve thing - just because God in the story of the Bible put one woman and one man on earth doesn't mean to say that that's the only acceptible relationship.
whizzkidtom

I didn't say I agreed with it, I just heard it on the radio! I think it is perfectly ok for people of the same sex to be together if it makes them happy!
Fizzy

Yeah sorry if my comment seemed to be directed at you. I was just commenting on the phrase generally.
puddleduckie

I agree...just  because there the same sex doesnt mean they can't get married.

I wouldn't do it though.
clarky111

if it was up 2 me id shoot all the gay men
gay women dunt bother me but gay guys makes me skin crawl
also sum1 posted guy and a women =bad wtf
Reaper

I said I think it looks better with a guy/guy girl/girl. I didn't say it was BAD. Don't change what I say. I'm ok with Guy/Girl, but you're just homophobic saying that gay men should be shot, that's homophobic AND Sexist.

What is it that you have against gays? Have you ever thought that gays maybe hate straight people, just as much as you hate gay people?
clarky111

so i dont care if they 8 straight ppl dunt bother me i wouldnt weanna talk to a gay anyway lmfao
Fizzy

clarky111 wrote:

What if you met someone new one day, and they were a guy, and you both liked all the same stuff i.e. same football team etc and you got on really well as mates...but then one day they told you that they were gay? Would you disown them solely because of that? If so, that's awful...

I'm interested to know what you're basing your hatred of gay people on...?
Reaper

clarky111 wrote:
so i dont care if they 8 straight ppl dunt bother me i wouldnt weanna talk to a gay anyway lmfao

So why does saying you "8 gay ppl" think they give a damn anyway?

And, about the shooting gays, thank god it's not to you. Or Stephen Fry would be dead, Oscar Wilde would be dead, the person who plays Dixie off of Casualty would be dead, Elton John would be dead, John Barrowman would be dead, the dude who hosts never mind the buzzcocks would be dead, Russel T Davies would be dead, and so would you. Because, if you think about it, deep down, even if it was years ago, you wondered if another guy would be good in bed, don't deny it, as you would of, years ago.
Fizzy

Ancodi wrote:

Gotta be true for everyone lol

Also I had a thought - there are never any famous premier league football players that are publicly known to be gay....there have to be plenty as there are so many players...!
clarky111

ye COURSE i would of done ROFL
Fizzy

You still haven't said what you base your hatred on?

I'm sorry but I hope this doesn't offend you, does that mean you are gay? or bi?
Reaper

Nope, not gay, nor bi, just like symmetrical things xD.
Hayley

I Am Going To Bump This Topic As I Feel It Created Some Good Discussion.

Would Anybody Else Like To Give Their Views On The Whole Concept Of Gay Marriage?
Fizzy

If I was single and I met someone of the same sex that I clicked well with and they were interested, I would have no problem having a relationship with that person.

As for having a civil partnership, I'm not sure if I would. Of course if I had been with someone of the same sex for a long time and couldn't imagine being with anybody else then I would consider it, but I think in the long-run I would prefer to end up in a straight relationship. I'm not really sure why this is, but I haven't been in a same sex relationship before so I guess I can't make that statement with complete confidence.
Jasper

i think that it is ok, so long as the tow men love each other and feel that it is the right thing to do.
dalek07

Its more common now than it was and more people dont seem to mind if people know they are gay, I think it all right for gay people to get married, its not tradition but that doesnt matter!
Wolverine

I disagree it is not right because i am a Christian and i don't believe that it is right i think men are made for women.
Fizzy

Would you still accept that a person you knew was gay though, and let them be who they are, in regards to the 'love thy neighbour' kinda thing?
Wolverine

Well yes sort of but i wouldn't really hang about with them anymore because i don't want them coming on to me.hahah
Fizzy

Just because someone is gay doesn't mean they fancy all of their friends of the same sex. It's the same as straight people not fancying all their friends of the opposite sex.
Hayley

benni94 wrote:

I'm christian and I don't 'disagree' with it.
Fizzy

There are some homosexual vicars in the Christian church...

I think some people who are religious accept it, and others don't.
Hayley

Fizzy wrote:

I never actually knew that.

I wouldn't have expected religion to be the reason why people don't believe in it.
Fizzy

Yeah I think there have been a couple of incidents in the news in the past about appointing a vicar or similar who is gay.

There are definately some Christians who accept it and others who don't. There was a news story I heard a little while ago about a Christian couple who were struck off the foster care register because they couldn't truthfully say that they would speak about homosexuality positively to their foster children.

if so,

i agree, im also a christian, but i think that if two people loved eachother God would never want to prevent them expressing that.....

i dont see how people can disagree with it, like, where does it say GAY PEOPLE ARE EVIL etc ???

i know the whole thing like in the bible n stuff but most people i know against gays arent religious and if you do believe in God youd beliee were all Gods children right? so he would love us all the same no matter what our choices.

anywhoo yehh, we could talk bout this for days.! lol

Yeah., Surely that is the kind of Christian belief about it all?
yusufmanu

you can see both sides .....gays should be allowed to do what they want but then again wat about religion.
Comiks

I agree with it. If 2 people love eachother, then they have the right to get married. But it's icky when they kiss. I don't know why, but it just doesn't seem right. I dno. Lol.

Quite a few people have said that, I think it's just down to the fact that most people aren't used to seeing it around.
Reaper

Since my last posts I have matured, and, I am still for any kind of marriage, but it isn't more towards gay anymore, more 50/50. =]

Anyway, how can being gay be wrong? Think about it, if there wasn't gays, there would be too many people, due to a massive increase in hetero sex.
Sunshinesteph

agree, let people get married! They are just people, besides Jesus was gay.
Monster

Last post = sick gotta say that and i disagree with gay marriage i dont think its right two men sleeping together it doesnt seem right :/
Reaper

SEEM, empasis on the seem.
If you found out your dad is gay, would you disown him?
What about your best friend?
Hull City

I have loads of freinds who are bi i am one as well andI have not been disowned by anybody
Fizzy

Monster you should give a proper reason as to why you have your beliefs...

I think a lot of young people these days are saying they're bisexual to be 'alternative', that's my view of it anyway. No offence to you Hull City, but it's just when you said that loads of your friends are bi it made me wonder how many of them really are bi and how many of them are probably just saying they are to get attention.
Hull City

I know what you mean Fizzy i have wondered this before
Fizzy

I don't mean to sound prejudice or anything but I've noticed quite a few people who consider themselves to be 'emo' have made quite a big thing about open sexuality.
Hull City

Yep well i know my best 3 mates are really bi but not sure about some others
Fizzy

To be fair I'm not really bi either, I've never actually been with someone of the same sex, so I suppose I'm bi-curious? If we really need to use labels
Hull City

Yep i know what you mean I have been with a girl once
ManicStreetPreacher

I'm not disapproving of any sexual orintation. Everyone is different. I have a friend who comes from a strict Catholic family, and he knew he was gay and he was scared about 'coming out' to his parents. Yes, when he did his parents disowned him, and they don't talk to him now. That's just silly and OTT.
Fizzy

I think it's horrible how peoples parents sometimes disown their own kids when they come out as gay. It's not like they've said "Mum, Dad...I've just murdered somebody", it's just so ludicrous!
ManicStreetPreacher

Fizzy wrote:

Agreed.
Fizzy

I don't think I will ever 'come out' to my family, I don't think it's necessary really. Firstly I'm in a straight relationship anyway, but secondly I don't think it's anybody's business as to who you want to have a relationship with.
ManicStreetPreacher

Yeah, everyone has free will. (Supposedly, unless aliens from the planet xyloplatone are controling us in a video game that is very simelar to the sims.) It's just that some people like gossip. I hate gossipers   they annoy me so much.

I don't agree with gay/bisexual relationships, as that's obviously not the way humans were meant to be or how would we still be in existence now.

I have no problem with gays, however if they flaunt their sexual orientation in front of others - that annoys me. Keep it to yourselves and don't subject others to it.

Not really - Just right

I was saying that what you said was contradictory, not wrong. You said that you have no problem with gays, but at the same time you were saying how they shouldn't flaunt it or show it in public because it's not right. So basically you do have a problem with gays.
