What is the CHAT Section for? - One of the problems here?Hi,
I am making this topic, to clear up an issue that there seems to be...
Some users are confused as to what the chat section is actually for.. it seems you are no longer allowed to chat about ANYTHING as stated in the sub-description thing...

Thats what it says, however it seems we are restricted as to what we can chat about?
As an example, I made a holiday topic yesterday, and it has now been merged into one topic with everyone else saying they are leaving or coming back etc...
Going on holiday is a big 'theme' that people are likely to WANT to talk about... I think you should be ALLOWED to talk about your holiday in the chat section, rather than having to make ONE POST in some super big topic which no one is going to read...
Can an admin please define what swapitshoplounge's term for CHAT actually means.. as it is obviously different from the dictionary meaning.
I suggest either changing the description under the chat section, as you clearly aren't allowed to chat about anything, or let users do what it says and chat about anything.
Anyway, I am going in a few hours, and when I'm back in 3 weeks time, I hope to be able to make a topic in the CHAT section, to CHAT about my holiday perhaps?
OR - heres a great idea - make an actual section for HOLIDAYS - lots of people like talking about them, so why should they have to all post in one topic.. :S
Anyway rant over, hope this issue can be resolved, as it is quite annoying after spending half an hour to write a good detailed topic, that it just gets moved. Cheers

I do agree with you there, in most ways; It is chat, and as said in the description, to chat about anything, therefore unless breaking the rules, it should be allowed here.
But then, people start moaning it's "clogging up" the chat section, when anyone makes more than 1 thread based on the same thing, going on holiday for example, and the admins are trying to stop that by putting them all into one thread/place. 
Anyway, somebody has already posted about a sub-forum for holidays. So hopefully that will be added.

yeah i find this a very annoying problem as when people go on holiday they get very excited and want to tell people about it and what theyll do and how there feeling not just make an announcement about them going they want people to talke about THERE holiday not about other peoples.
maybe not a section maybe a sub section and if not just let people make the holiday topics and have the leaving returning topic for when people are actually leaving all together or for a long time for like gcse's and so on.

I agree.
And also, nothing should be 'clogging up' the chat section robertoroboto.. if its chat, then it just means the section is busy, which it is bound to me, as it is one of the most well-used sections on the forum.
Spammers should continue to be warned and topics removed etc, however people not spamming should be allowed to post their chat in this section.
Anyway, hopefully a sub-forum or something can be added like you say, atleast people would have a place to properly chat about their holidays then

yeah chat section should be for anything that doesnt fit in any other sections and as long as its not out right spam it shoul be allowed as chatting is probably the biggest part of life and on this forum so why limit it.

I agree.

I coudln't agree more with you about that, I dont feel like the section is clogged up at all, I like there being lots of new threads there.
I am saying that alot of others do complain about this, so the admins have to move all the posts into one topic To stop 'em moaning.

Yeah I see what you mean.
I am not moaning as such, I just think that it should be fair for all members, and I sometimes see topics in here which are not really as constructive as a detailed holiday topic would be. (If that makes any sense)?
Anyway, if a sub-forum does get made, that'd be great.
I'm off now for 3 weeks or so, (you would know if my holiday topic was still here) Lol, kidding

Agreed, and I think it was StacFace who made a thread in 'help and ideas' section asking for a subforum entirely for people wanting to chat about their holidays..
But yes, I agree, it is a general chat area, so should be allowed to chat about 'anything'

I think one of the reasons for the Leavers/Returners topic is so that people who are wondering where certain people have gone can go into the topic and read to see if that person has posted about going away. Saves having to fish through all of the topics in the chat section. I didn't realise though that it was totally illegal to still make a normal topic about your holiday...

There should be a sub forum, it does get "too clogged up" with holiday topics, but a single topic isn't the answer.
