Hi, and welcome to Brain Teasers #1.

I hope you enjoy them

Question 1

There is a common English word that is nine letters long. Each time you remove a letter from it, it still remains an English word - from nine letters right down to a single letter. What is the original word, and what are the words that it becomes after removing one letter at a time?

Answer The base word is Startling - starting - staring - string - sting - sing - sin - in - I - Guessed correctly by missy_gee


Question 2

A man is sitting in a pub feeling rather poor. He sees the man next to him pull a wad of £50 notes out of his wallet.
He turns to the rich man and says to him,
"I have an amazing talent: I know almost every song that has ever existed."
The rich man laughs.
The poor man says, "I am willing to bet you all the money you have in your wallet that I can sing a genuine song with a lady's name of your choice in it."
The rich man laughs again and says, "Ok how about my daughters name, Joanna Armstrong-Miller."
The rich man goes home poor. The poor man goes home rich.

What song did he sing?

A man wanted to get into a members only club but because he couldn't become a member, the man hid and watched as the guard at the door of the club house said a number to each member as they approached, the member would respond with a number of their own, if the member responded with the correct number they were let in, if they responed incorrectly they were thrown out. One member come up to the guard, the guard said twelve and the member responded with six and was let in. Another member came to the door, the guard said six and the member responded with three and was let in. Believing he had heard enough, the reject went up to the guard, the guard said ten, and the reject said five, but was not let in, what should the reject have said?

The Butler was cleaning the closet.

The police instantly arrested the murdered. Who did it and how did they know?

Hi Nadeem,

Yes, I cheat, and use the internet to find the riddles and brainteasers. There are so many out there, and hopefully people enjoy solving them

4. 2 spelling mistakes in 'they' and 'errers' and one claiming there are 3 but only two.. so it ends up with 3.
