Either it's a MASSIVE time difference, or this is old news.

If it was gonna happen, it would've happened in the last 5 years.

1) As Ancodi Said It Was Last Updated 13/04/2003
2) Tony Blair Isn't The Prime Minister Anymore
3) Sadam Is Dead.

So I Think That This Is Obviously Old News.

It depends, what is being accounted here? Does civilian support matter? Are nuclear weapons being accounted for? Is the United States bogged down in Iraq at the time? Are allies being put into account? what about the NATO forces? what about the EU? hell, what about the AU?

Do try to understand, there is much to be accounted for when you classify "war" between two countries. To answer your question to what I believe you mean (military engagement), the United States would "win" that war. Russia does not have the means; their technology is Grade-A and B, granted (considering T-90s, T-80s, Su-35's the works), but a lot of that inventory is in a limited supply or not in great quality. Russia needs to find the money and the fuel; funny enough, Russia has lots of oil in the Caspian area....but don't ask me why they are always low. Not to mention their training is not up to par with most western powers. It would be an intense war, also granted, but weighing military forces, capability, and overall power, the war is in the United States' favor. You account allies, and at the time being, the US would have the EU, and at the least, their NATO allies. You account civilian support, that is where the United States fails, the support of the American people would give Russia a tremendous favor.
Then you have the allies of Russia - China, as well as most of the middle east.
If you account Nuclear weapons, well, quite frankly, if you account nuclear weapons it doesn't matter who wins, now does it?

War between Russia and the United States is not really feasible, it would mean the destruction of both powers, and anyone else involved. It would mean a third world war (which would literally turn the countries involved into a "third world") unlike the world has ever seen. That is serious business where China, India, Britain, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Eastern block, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Canada, Venezuela, South Africa, Turkey, Yemen, UAE, Israel, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and many other powers would be directly affected and forced to choose a side. I am not saying all these powers would be involved, but they would be affected and forced to lean to a side and give some sort of support.

So, to summaraise.
If there was another World War, the USA and Russia would both be decimated, and the fallout would affect the allies of both nations. Europe would become the new top superpower.
If you bring nuclear into the equation, there will be no winners, as the whole world, should it be around still, would be so devastated, that all countries would become third world countries.

My opinion anyway.

lol, all Russia would have to do in such an event is cut our energy supply!!! Britain relise so much of our energy to russia, they wouldn't need to fire any weapons, just cut supply and send us into a cold freeze!!
