Always Send Swaps 1st Class To Swapitshop, And Then Second Class To The Swapper!
If Possible Send Swaps Recorded So Then You Can Trace Your Parcel, If Not Ask For Proof Of Postage!
If Sending Lots Of Swaps, Send Them Together, This will save postage and will also ensure they arrive at the same time!

Hi,
Also When You Get Unfranked Stamps From Envelopes (not stamped) And You Don't Want To Rip/Peel Them Off Because You're Afraid There Going To Rip Do This,
This Is A Very Easy Way :
Firstly, Put The Envelope In Boiling Water For About 30 Minutes.
Secondly, Put The Envelope In A Towel Then Peel The Stamps Off Very Carefully, Using Scissors Is Much Better.
Thirdly, Use Glue Or Tape To Put Them On The Envelope You Are Just About To Send Or Keep Them For Later.
Thanks
- Smeemi

I know that I am a bit late coming onto this thread, but I thought that I would point something out.
If you use sellotape to tape a used but unfranked stamp back onto a new letter, you run the risk of the receiver (in this case, swapitshop) being charged upon delivery.
Royal mail classes this as fraud.
I would not recommend it at all.
A debate was on another forum Here about it. You need to scroll down to post number 145, where it starts about it being fraud.

You cna glue the unfranked stamps on the letters, but not tape.
The following are quotes from the website I mentioned:
| Quote: | | As a Royal Mail official may i clear up a few points. We never refuse to deliver to an address. Sellotaping over stamps is fraud and the item WILL be surcharged at the appropriate rate. Uncancelled stamps can be defased will a ballpoint pen and they will be delivered. Royal Mail does NOT hike up prices but we have to apply to the regulater POSTCOM for PERMISSION to increase any postal charges. They are not increased out of hand but for a reason. I hope this cleares up a few points. Thanks for reading this. |

Why is sellotaping stamps in place wrong?
What if the glue had become ineffective or you were sticking stamps onto a rough parcel?
Selotaping the stamps means that they can't be cancelled out (i.e "stamped" at the mail centre, you know, with the date, time and name of the mail centre...) hence they can be used again. This could therefore be seen as an attempt to defraud Royal Mail Group PLC.
Re the glue: I think there were a few problems with the stamps becoming "unstuck" when RM first introduced self-adheseive stamps a few years ago, but I'm pretty sure these problems are now very few and far between. |
People do get away with it, but I am just pointing out that Royal Mail considers it fraudulent to use sellotape to affix your stamps. Why take the risk, when you can use pritt stick or similiar glue, to fix them on?
