An astonishing, invigorating early Boxing Day kick-off saw three red cards and Chelsea recover from two goals down to take the lead and then allow Villa back into the game twice.

Shevchenko with two goals, the second a brilliant strike, Alex and Ballack were the players on target for the Blues. Carvalho and Ashley Cole were our players dismissed and the injury curse continues with Lampard this time forced off.

Chelsea:

Scorers: Shevchenko 45, (pen) 45+4, 49. Alex 65, Ballack 87.

Aston Villa:

Scorers: Maloney 13, 43. Laursen 72, Barry (pen) 90+2.

Yeah, what an amazing game!

I would also like to say a big well done to the referee (Alan Wiley, I think) because referees have been under alot of pressure of late and he refereed that game EXCELLENTLY. All of the red cards were red cards and the penalties were penalties.

Great game Chelsea and Villa, 4-4 was a fair result.

I didn't think Ashley Cole should have been sent off as he did head the ball but it caught his arm, which he was trying to move out of the way.

woohhhoo we played really good cant belive it ended 4-4 we had so many good chances in the first half the goals were all brilliant we had knight sent off and then they had a pen and scored to make 2-1 and then second half they were playing really good made it 2-2 and then 3-2 to them and then 3-3 and then 4-3 and then woohhoo we had a penalty and ashley cole got sent off and then we made it 4-4...

everyone is saying that was the best game yesterday...

Whether he was trying to move out of the way or not, the ball was heading towards the net and his hand prevented a clear goal.

The ball was actully heading AWAY from the goal when it struck his arm so it should have been a yellow and a pen for Villa.

I can't believe Carvalho's tackle. I didn't think he was that kind of guy.

i watched the game and it was going straight to the goal but then cole moved his hand down and it hit his hand..the ref may thought it was delibarate hand ball. and gave him a red ahahah lol

Well i only heard about the 1st half and Villa were dominating it and when i saw the match on Match Of The Day i'd say you had more possession in the whole match!
