They don't even ban the IP. They simply give you a "cookie" that says, "this use is banned" and then when you come to the site it see's that you have that cookie and it tells you you're banned.

yeah well its kinda obvious as they cant actually ban your ip on a forum like this its all in the cookies anything they do a simple clearout of them does the trick

Umm no, It is possible to ban an IP, however the way phpbb2 is set up, they don't actually ban your IP, they ban you via cookies.

Account bans are server side, so if your account is banned, you can't get past it, however if they IP ban you, it's simple to get past.
