Buy her something really nice, put a handmade card (by you) inside, tellling her how sorry you are and admitting to being a Jerk, or whatever you want to call it.
then go up to her in private, say to her, i feel really bad about how i've neen acting, and to say sorry, i bought you a little something.

I explained why I was acting so idiotically and she completely understood as she had apparently been in similar situations.

Yup, I got her a little sorry present, some earrings which went down well, she wears them into school most days.
