I think that it turned from self defense, to mass paranoia, to just the proverbial norm.
I totally agree with the metal detectors, as it can cut down on knife crimes.
Also, I think the police should have the right to search anyone in the street with a reason.
I also think that people are over-using the preemptive strike idea, it is better to be knifed, hopefully survive and get the person locked up than knifing them and being locked up.
This may sound racist, but by the looks of it, probably due to the media, but anyway, it looks like it is mainly black people, or people from an "ethnic-minority" doing it most. Surely, if this is true, that is racist in some way as well? I don't mean that it is racist that there are more black people doing it, I mean that they are feeling insecure around white people, which is bad, and feeling that they have a right to knife anyone at all.
It really angers me that people say it is for defense. Your body alone can be classed as a lethal weapon, with proper training. It is fairly easy to survive an attack if you know how. Knives, guns, whatever are totally unnecessary, and people who carry them deserve to be sectioned, as they are a danger to others, and, quite possible, themselves.
