Parking Ticket

I was in town with my brother today, we just went to an icecream place for a sundae, and he had a parking ticket on his car when we got back!

He thought he'd bought about an hour of parking (he put in 75p assuming he would get just under an hour as it said 80p for one hour), but when we got back it was 15 mins after the ticket time had expired. The parking ticket was time-stamped at just 8 minutes after the ticket time had ended! How stupid is that.

What happened was that the machine didn't give change, so although he thought he'd bought like 55 minutes or whatever he'd actually only paid 60p for 45 minutes and not got given change.

We're not appealing, we had an expired ticket and that's all they'll care about.

It's £25 if he pays within two weeks, or £50 if he pays within a month. So he's paying £25 lol.

It's stupid! However it's the law, no/expired permit, one parking ticket. Somepeople are so stupid, leaving it to the last minute, refusing to pay for it, then they wonder why the baliffs come round and ask for £500 pound or they get reposessed, for the one ticket. Their fault. But 8 minutes is a bit harsh. I think they sould have a 10 minute lee-way after it expired, to give you time to get back to your car. Or they should have at least clearer signs.
