I have just won an iPod and was wondering, can I put my own MP3s that I have ripped from my CDs on to it?, or are am I restricted to only putting MP3s that have DRM?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Once you instal iTunes (pretty much required to put songs on to it) you can.

Just click file, Import and choose what song you want.

Then drag it on to the iPod tab.

But you have to do it that way, There is no other way, Apart from 3rd party software, Which is not safe, It corrupt my last iPod trying to use a particular one.

So does that mean I can use MP3 files that do not have DRM on them?

You can use any MP3 files, MP4 files or M4A files, if you have WMA's (w/out DRM) iTunes converts them .

Sorry now I am getting confused, does that mean that any file that doesn't have DRM gets it tagged to it when I put it on the iPod using iTunes, effectively preventing me copying them over to another player in the future that doesn't play DRM files?

No. iTunes doesn't add DRM.
But you cannot copy off an iPod using iTunes, you need 3rd party software.
